Orbit-EyeTM Spring Hanger Installation For
’79-’85 Toyota 4x4 Trucks and ’84-’85 4Runners Use
your browser's BACK button to return to the page you were viewing.
- DO
NOT completely remove the stock spring hangers from the
frame. These instructions apply to both front spring hangers.
- DO
carefully
cut off the stock hanger “ears” as indicated by the arrows below.
Outboard ears (at right in two photos below) should be cut off and
ground down smooth and level with the stock hanger’s underside. Cut
off inboard ears so that new Orbit-EyeTM hangers nest
without gaps against the stock hanger undersides.

- Nest
(or mate) the stock and Orbit-EyeTM hanger “humps” to
provide correct side-to-side positioning.
Position Orbit-EyeTM hanger’s front edge to be
flush with stock hanger’s front edge.
Clamp new hangers in position on driver and passenger sides.
- Before
welding either new hanger, install spring-eye bolts and
be sure both bolts are level and square with each other and with the
frame. Handy tip: remove bolts and insert a 3-foot long, perfectly
straight 9/16 dowel or length of steel tubing through both clamped
hangers to check level and square. Then weld hangers along all four
sides. Weld gussets as
shown below. Hey,
you’re done. Bolt up
your Orbit-EyeTM springs, and happy ‘wheelin’!

Happy 'wheeling and thanks
for choosing A.O.R. products!
